One of the most important features in Mac apps is one we don’t think of much. Undo. Whatever was just done gets undone with a click. Either Command-Z, or click Edit and select Undo, it’s one of the 21st century’s best computing features. Marry undo with a Mac app that creates the coolest photo effects and you have the perfect trial and error opportunity for fantastic photos on your Mac.
The app is one of my family favorites– Funtastic Photos. What it does is give you instant point and click photo effects with editing, printing, and sharing built-in.
Powerful, Feature Laden, Plus Undo
Here’s the deal with photo editing. It’s very difficult to do. iPhoto on your Mac gives you quick and easy cropping, and some point and click effects to enhance or colorize a photo. But that’s about it.
Funtastic Photo is a photo editor that’s actually fun to use.
If you can point and click (and get back to Undo), you’ll have fun editing and enhancing photos on your Mac.
The app seems to specialize in improving mundane photos with dozens of one click styles to apply (each with Undo). Drop in a photo, find a style that looks appealing, click to implement. Funtastic Photos ads color styles, frames, effects, and much more.
Each photo can have multiple effects applied (extra clicks) and the results saved for future use (or to use on other photos). It’s all done in real time so you see the results instantly. Don’t like what you get? It’s reversible via Undo.
Funtastic Photos lets you print what you see on screen. Choose from a number of creative layouts to arrange your photos. Even add captions.
There’s a built-in Photo Cube template, too. Drop in six photos and click to print. The end results even has assembly instructions.
Your original photo is saved no matter how many effects you apply to it.
Funtastic Photos also has collages which are built from many photos. Think of it as an instant Photo Mosaic.
Most of what we do these days is share photos online or via email.
Remember Apple’s old iCards feature? That’s built in to Funtastic Photos so you can send cards to friends and family with just a click and have each photo fully customized.
This is one photo enhancement app that’s worth the money. What it doesn’t do well is instant online sharing. No built-in Twitter or Facebook upload, but any photo can be used as your Mac’s Desktop photo. And, it’s fully try-before-you-buy.
Point and click Mac apps to improve photos are available in quantity these days. Try 5 Reasons To Use This Powerful Mac Photo Editor. Or, Point, Click, And Batch Customize Photo Effects. All are good, but not as much fun as Funtastic Photos.
