You know what they say. Necessity is the mother of invention. If there’s a need, someone will find a way. Build it, and they will come. What goes around comes around. What goes up, must come down.
Alright, some of those don’t have anything to do with a handy small business database, but are necessary to grab your attention and whet your appetite for a Mac app that does some cool things for your business and doesn’t cost an arm or a leg or any appendage in between.
In fact, it’s free.
Organize Your Business With Organise
Subtle, huh? The difference between organize and Organise. The former is what you want, the latter is what does it for you.
For some reason, Shiela Dixon loves the Mac so much, and has such a need in business that she created a bunch of free Mac apps, including the much beloved Organise.
This one is a handy Mac database app that tracks orders, inventory, customer details, even basic invoice and accounting, as well as a to-do list.
Orgaise is something of an amalgam of Mac apps that would be cumbersome, complex, and expensive to buy, learn, use, but comes with just the bare basics.
Take a look at the screenshot of Organise’s basic functions.
The Toolbar at the top is mostly self explanatory. Print. Delete. Edit. Duh.
After that, add a New Company or Contact. Or, a New Order or Invoice (or even tasks to do).
Organise tracks orders, contacts, financial information for each account, and so on.
It’s not a full-fledged accounting or financial or customer database app.
There’s just enough of the basic information you really need to track without digging into the intricacies of QuickBooks. If you want QuickBooks for free, Organise isn’t the answer.
If you want a simple way to track and organize information about customers and orders, Organise is worth a look. The non-free Pro version does a little more, including custom reports, multi-user capability, and basic accounting, plus the aforementioned to-do items.
So, start at free, try it out, if you need a little more, the Pro version isn’t expensive, is far less than QuickBooks or most other business-oriented Mac apps to track money, sales, and customers.
