How Much Should You Be Making In Your Job? What Do Others Make? An iPhone App Knows

Friday, February 1, 2013 | Wil Gomez Posted In iOS Apps

GlassdoorIf there’s one thing about working in business that catches my hair on fire it’s the disparity in pay.

Whether it’s men vs. women, marrieds vs. singles, many businesses are happy to pay qualified employees less than a less qualified employee. So, how can you tell how much money you should be making in your job, or the job you want? Yes, iPhone users, there’s an app for that.

Open The Glassdoor To Know

Glassdoor is a website which gives you an inside look at jobs in business, as well as the companies themselves– all from the perspective of employees.

For iPhone users, the search for salary ranges and job conditions is made easier by the free Glassdoor app.

What you get in this elegant app is a look at the insides of a company and jobs. Inside information that comes from employees.

It’s also a good way to check out a company before submitting an employment application or going in for an interview.

The Glassdoor app gives you information about salary and benefits, job titles and descriptions, and more– including salary range, stock options, bonuses, and working conditions.

This may be the easiest way ever to find out about salary ranges and employment opportunities (or, warnings).

Glassdoor

I particularly appreciate the salary range listings for companies. Find one that looks attractive and matches your desire or experience, and drill down to find companies that may be worth visiting.

Glassdoor Reviews

Click on the images above for a larger, pop up view with greater detail.

It doesn’t take much imagination to see the value in Glassdoor.

Company reviews are ranked by starts and reviews also list the pros and cons of working at a specific company.

And every company has pros and cons (although I’m sure I’ve worked for some professional cons).

The Glassdoor website appears to have more detailed information and functionality, and both the app and the site seem to favor larger companies with more employees.

Still, it’s a good place to begin looking for the dream job (and useful to spot a crummy company before leaving your job).
