Tera, I just read Bambi’s note about your illness. I’m sure I don’t speak only for myself when I say we’ll miss you and hope for a speedy recovery and return. We miss your articles, your charm, and want you to know we’re all thinking of you.
It will not only be Mac 360 that will miss Tera’s presence, even for just a short time. She has been consistently active elsewhere, too. I can’t remember many founders of other Mac sites still making the rounds and interjecting thoughts on Mac sites not their own (perhaps others know some). This always makes Tera special. She clearly has a real love for the Mac, not simply an egocentric one surrounding her own site. This site started out with a different foundation than have others. Perhaps not alone, but Tera has done that. I remember this site’s origins everytime I enter it. We all hope for a speedy recovery. If there is anything those of us who live close to Tera can do to help, feel free to ask.

Here, have another smile:
Me, too. I saw Tera’s posts on Mac Daily News from time to time from a year ago and then checked out Mac360. I’m glad I did. Mac sites are substantially different than most Windows sites in that they’re ‘personal’ and have personality. Tera’s is one of the best. She really makes a reader think.
...and welcome, Mary Carol, er, or, Carol Mac Mary, er… as a new Moderator! A number of us clearly have the same origins with Tera at MDN - and bringing us to the site.
One thing that has always made Macs special is the Mac COMMUNITY. I have been a strong advocate of the community, itself, from the beginning. Mac people are always willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm to help others in ways that many others don’t. I hope that, as more people switch to Macs, they will learn to be part of that community, rather than dragging the community away from its roots.
Tera is someone who does epitomize that community.
This Is a community, and Tera’s illness and absense brings it even more back home. She is why I’m at the site right now and writing this. It didn’t take long, either- I’m a newbie. She is one of a handful of Mac writers (Pogue, Andy, Levitus, Steinberg, the late Don Crabbe) whose opinions I look forward to reading and hearing about for both support and enlightenment. Great B.S. detector, too!
I hope you get well and recover from whatever is ailing you. Since it hasn’t been mentioned (or did I miss it?), I’m assuming it’s bad. Our thoughts are with you and we wish you all the strength in the world.
I had a wonderful time getting to know you through writing our little article. I loved this site from the time I first visited. You guys have a catchy style and witty crew working this site and I look forward to enjoying it, with you, in the future.
