Yeah apparently they are going to carve each out of a solid aluminum brick using a CNC machine…high tech and very cool…

Well see the thing is if you start waiting then they don’t release anything…its kinda like washing your car, then it rains.

Somebody was a smart Mac buyer and bought ahead of the new product announcements. $1,300 Macs without Firewire. How does Apple explain that?

A guy complains to Steve Jobs about lack of Firewire and all Jobs can do is state that most new HD video cameras are USB, not Firewire.

OK, so what? What does that have to do with Target Mode? What does that have to do with booting a Mac on an external Firewire drive? To save $5 Apple’s Great Leader™ stuck his thumb up the butt of many Mac users and called it progress.

Bah. Humbug.

Can you give me some kind of Apple support page or something that shows the new Macs booting from a USB hard drive? Small Firewire hard drives cost more than small USB hard drives.

Thanx!!!

Thought I’d update this thread, since I started it.

Still loving my white Macbook.  Most of the time it’s hooked up to a 22” LCD monitor and I use the Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse, but I have the portability if I want it.  Installed Crossover so I can play Guild Wars, and other games I couldn’t play on my Vista machine because of video card crashes (AoEIII, C&C3;) are running just fine in OS X.  Still the best computer I’ve ever owned, hands-down.

Picked my wife up a new aluminum Macbook a couple weeks ago to replace her problematic Vista laptop and she’s loving it as well.  She was impressed with the setup time and simplicity…she’s pretty technical, but I didn’t have to help her at all during the setup (we’ve always tag-teamed on our Windows machines because the setups are such a pain).  She couldn’t be happier with it!

I’m in the process of converting my parents, namely my mom, to the idea that “Mac is good”.  She’s very receptive to the idea, which is more than I would have gotten a couple years ago.  Progress! smile

I tell you once one person in a family gets a mac its amazing how quickly it seems the other members get one.  These things sell themselves.

That’s something I refuse to do—buy my wife a Mac.

Usually, I buy a Mac for me, then a year or so later, when a newer/better/faster/cooler model comes out, I’ll buy that one for me and give my old one to my wife.

She’s always appreciative. Then again, she’s a blond, big boobed, blind, monogamous nympho and her father owns a liquor store.

She’s always appreciative.
