Last night Safari started crashing.  I posted my log report with Apple and their reply was Circus ponies was causing safari to crash.  Has anyone else had this problem.

I use CircusPonies and it’s been wonderful. NO crashes for the past few versions. If it just started crashing on you then you might have a corrupt preference file somewhere.

What version of Mac OS X are you using? That matters.

I am using 10.4.5 on a power book G4 (667mhz) and 512 mb of ram

Let me drop in on this as I’ve been a Circus Ponies user for a couple of years.

Once you learn it, Circus Ponies is wonderful as an organizational tool. The bells and whistles list is extensive, but there are so many that it’s gone beyond intuitive. I’ve used it regularly and find I still need the PDF manual.

I’ve tried Mori for some smaller organization tasks and I’m impressed. No, it’s not in the same league of performance as Circus Ponies, but it’s much easier to let it organize what you want, rather than forcing you to adapt to a more complex system.

The use of Apple’s Core Data and the stacking nature of folders and documents is remarkably intuitive. It seems to capture anything and everything.

This is a very nice application that works like Mac users—it lets us organize how we want, then gets out of the way.

This is a category of very personal applications and a whole range of capabilities. I found Notae recently. Very well done. It’s not Mori or OmniOutliner or Notebook. Notae is a note taker with emphasis on formatting, import and export. Very well done and not expensive.

We’re working on a review for this week which will cover many of the Outliners, Notebooks, Organizers, and Note taking Applications on the Mac.

Those on the list include Notebook, Mori, Omnioutliner, and others. Notae is also on the list to be reviewed. Are there any that I’m missing?

We’re working on a review for this week which will cover many of the Outliners, Notebooks, Organizers, and Note taking Applications on the Mac.

And I’m the lucky person on the Mac360 staff who’s been assigned this lovely gem, right?

I thought so. Thanks, B-girl.

This is a crowded field with the entrants ranging from capable and inexpensive, to workhorse applications that do a little of everything. I tend to prefer CircusPonies’ Notebook at the high end, and Mori at the low end, but there are few of these apps that are not worthy of consideration.

What I like about Notebook is that it does everything, but you have to learn how it works. What I like about Mori is that you can make it do nearly everything, and you don’t need to learn much.

Different strokes for different folks.
