The 4:3 aspect ratio is much better for widescreen than the 3:4, which is what many players use, making it a widescreen, in that it’s wider than it is long… apparently…

You are not listening. 4:3 is standard “Full Screen” AR. It is what all non-"widescreen" TVs are. This is the format used by most TVs, monitors, and iPods. This is the format of the Zune when tipped on it’s side. Therefore, in normal use the Zune is 3:4 AR. None of these are “widescreen”. Traditional “widescreen” is an AR of 16:9. Do not be fooled into thinking that Zune has an actual widescreen display. It does not.
