Most ISP’s give away email accounts. Same with most businesses. Almost all of them have some kind of web-based interface to get to email from any browser.

So, who are the major email providers? MobileMe, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo!, HotMail.

Any others?

You haven’t lived until you’ve tried to use a public internet PC to check mail. Sure, Yahoo and Google and friends work fine, but typing email from French keyboard is a major nightmare unless you’re French. There’s no logic to where all the extra keys are placed. None.

I’ve started carrying around an old Mac notebook just to do email so I don’t have to use a keyboard that has a curse and is willing to spread it to anyone who dares try to use it for communicating to others.

What Carol has neglected to tell you is that she doesn’t speak, read, write French. A little Spanish, but no French. And she has the Charles De Gaul to go into a French restaurant and ask if they have French Fries.

Ah Pommes Frites…:-) Problem I have is when you speak to a native speaker all of a sudden they think you are fluent and you can’t understand a word…
