Best Mac Utility Ever Is Free. It Saved My Life.
It’s the delete part of the scenario that dooms our day, because that’s the event from the dark recesses of hell. Mac360’s Value Vixen™ has a cure. I know you’ve done this many times, Mac or Windows user. You copy something onto the Mac’s clipboard, then paste somewhere else. Sometimes you cut instead of copy. Sometimes you hit delete on the original selection. Whatever the keyboard shortcut you used, something very valuable suddenly disappeared. Forever. Most Mac applications and utilities have an Undo feature in the Edit menu. That takes care of those deletions that you catch before copying anything else. If you’re like me, that’s not all there is. Sometimes, though it doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I can actually become nauseous, sometimes, I delete something in an application and figure out what I did moments later. That’s when undo doesn’t always undo what you did. Whatever got deleted during the cut, copy, paste, delete nightmare is gone forever. What do you do if you’ve accidentally deleted a paragraph or two in email? Start over. The feeling that you’re an idiot eventually goes away. What happens when you’re chewing through a document, and haven’t saved after a page or two, then you select an area, delete and move on, only to realize, after five or six more cut and pastes that you made a big mistake? It’s time for Starbucks. Actually, skip Starbucks just once and install PTH Pasteboard on your Mac. Instead of thanking me, just send a gift. A crate of Pampers would be nice (second child on the way).
What does PTH Pasteboard do for Mac users with a happy trigger finger? It remembers what you did and un-does it. Yes, you can spend money for a Mac utility that remembers all your cut and paste routines and saves them, and you can spend money for PTH Pasteboard Pro, which does even more for Mac power users. PTH Pasteboard is a multiple “clipboard” utility that remembers what you copied and pasted. Whatever you copied gets stored and is not even a click away should you lose something. PTH is a System Preference Pane so you can make it available to all users on your Mac. Settings are simple and straightforward and you can even search through the documents you’ve stored. “You” means it stores them automagically. You don’t do anything. PTH does the work. It stores what you copy, stacks the copies in order, and gives you a bounce out side window so you can look at what you’ve copied without even clicking the mouse or invoking a hard-to-remember hot key. With a toddler roaming the house I have enough to remember without having to resort to hot keys. The Pasteboard also places a utility in the Mac’s Menu Bar for easy accessibility in any Mac application. What about what you cut or copy and paste? Some items have formatting that doesn’t translate well from one Mac application to another. Not to worry. PTH Pasteboard will let you choose to re-paste text as formatted or unformatted. What’s not to like? Even Mac users are human, though many Windows users view us as part of a growing and powerful new techno-religion whose members know the future, prosper with better health, money, education, and live longer. It’s all because of little utilities such as PTH Pasteboard. Is this another utility that helps Mac users remain addicted to the Mac? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. It’s the free candy from the man down the street. We get hooked on it and have to visit the candy store regularly for more goodies. Got a bad cut, paste, delete story to share? Talk Back to Kate, Ron & the Mac360 staff stan1961 says:
Quicksilver is just so damned difficult to use, and the developer has already decided not to continue development. Scratch that one for me. — Posted on Wed Feb 27 at 2:50 pm by stan1961
Lee Rodgers says:
Sounds great, but if you use Quicksilver (I couldn’t live without it), you already have have the ability to store multiple clipboard items. And it’s free as part of an outstanding app. — Posted on Wed Feb 27 at 2:39 pm by Lee Rodgers

I think both iClip and Copypaste have been abandoned. Neither have been updated for over a year. I like the PTH one I used the free version for a while and upgraded when I got a second machine. — Posted on Mon Feb 25 at 11:34 pm by MrRob

Hi, Iggy: Script has CopyPasteLite which is free. The full program (plus a typing completer called yType) is $30, sort of like the difference between Pasteboard, and Pasteboard Pro. iCLip looks like the same deal: pay for the full, free for the lite version (which is a widget), but the interface is beautiful! — Posted on Tue Sep 25 at 12:31 am by RJay

I got iClip in MacHeist last year and it works great! — Posted on Mon Sep 24 at 11:48 pm by Hamish

Looks like they do the same thing but PTH does it for $30 less. — Posted on Mon Sep 24 at 10:49 pm by iggy pence

I’ve been using CopyPaste (http://www.scriptsoftware.com/copypaste/) for years, and it seems to do most of what you are talking about here (except add its own Pref Pane). Is there an advantage to PTHPasteboard? — Posted on Mon Sep 24 at 10:22 pm by RJay
