Double Poll: What’s Your Favorite Mac OS X Desktop Picture? This is a double poll, too. You get to vote for your favorite desktop picture, AND, help me decide whether it’s worthwhile to publish my own desktop picture (people have been asking...). For example, this image is from Apple’s Mac OS X Desktop Pictures folder. It’s usually the image you see on Macs at the Apple Store and in many advertisements. I’ll admit, the swirling blue image is attractive, but it gets old after awhile. Blue is nice and all, but every freakin’ day? No thanks. As we “mature” as Mac users we want something less stock than Aqua. Still stock but more eclectic is the Abstract image. This one rocks, man. It rocks. For about 20 minutes. Then, I had to have something else. I mean, the 70s were over years ago. That’s when I decided personality meant something to me. So, I went in search of some kind of photo with personality. Something cute. Colorful. How about a bug? They’re cute. The green background was definitely different than abstract.
The bug looked great. I was the only one here with a green screen (staving off the ‘blue screen of death” jokes), but I wasn’t paying attention. Yes, it was only a lady bug. But it was a bug. Suddenly, I was the butt of a basket of bug jokes. Better than abstract, the Nature “bug” lasted until just after lunch. Then the Terminix man showed up at the door. OK, goodbye lady bug. Well, truly customizing Mac OS X is what it’s all about, right? Surely I had enough photos inside iPhoto to come up with something that would look great, right? I’m sure you’ve got a few photos that would do the trick, too. Here’s what I found:
It didn’t take long to produce half a dozen that were suitable for framing, let alone suitable for my Mac’s display. This one is shot from the beach at the Hualalai Spa and Resort on the Big Island. The challenge with some digital cameras is getting the shutter to go off EXACTLY when you want it to. I was hoping to catch a shot of the elusive “green flash” (Google it) which often occurs just after the sun’s image dips over the horizon. I’ve seen it half a dozen times in all the time I’ve lived here.
OK, how’s that one? Not great, huh? I’ve got a few good photographs of me that I can drop over a background. It wouldn’t take much to make a few available online? What’re they worth to you? $10.00 each? $5.00? $1.00? You want me to pay you to download a Tera desktop picture? So, today’s double poll should make you think. What’s your favorite desktop picture ("wallpaper" for you Windows readers who come to Tera’s Mac360 just for the articles)? Aqua? Nature? Something from your iPhoto collection? Something borrowed, something blue, something nude? Your vote counts in today’s Double Poll. What’s your favorite desktop picture for Mac OS X? Should I create a Tera desktop picture for Mac360 readers? All you have to do is Click Here. To see the results on how the voting is going, just Click Here. This will be interesting.
