Get Four Free Mac Utilities From Rapido.

Is it true that you get what you pay for? I don’t think so. A Mac at the same price as a PC with Windows Vista is a better value with higher quality.

How about free Mac utilities? Here’s the Friday Freebie Foursome ready to fill up your Mac with more tools than you can afford even if you can’t afford any more tools.

App4Mac is a small Mac software developer with a foursome of freebie Mac utilities. It’s not as though we don’t have enough utilities, right?

I’m rather certain that my Mac has gone well beyond the triple digits of Mac applications, utilities, and tools, most of which are free, many of which are highlighted here on Mac360 as Alexis’ Friday Freebies.

So it is with the Rapido series of utilities from App4Mac. For example, all Mac users have a need to store serial numbers, passwords, and so on, right? What’s better than using Stickies?

Try RapidoSerial. As the App4Mac site says, “RapidoSerial is a tool that allows you to backup information after your shopping of Mac software.” Uh oh. That knocking on the door must be the Grammar Police.

Still, RapidoSerial is a simple application that actually stores information in a database. It is, as App4Mac says, “Freeware, gratis, and freely usable.”

How about organizing all those pesky but free utilities and applications on your Mac? App4Mac has RapidoStart, another freebie which lets you launch said utilities, applications. But for free you get even more.

RapidoStart will also open documents and let you access folders. Can’t you do the same thing in the Mac’s Finder? Or in any one of a dozen similar Mac utilities that cost somewhat less than something?

Yes, of course. But none of them have a cool name like RapidoStart.

App4Mac’s well designed and professional web site is also home to RapidoWrite which is, well, I’m not sure what it is. Should it matter? It’s free. That’s what counts on Fridays, right?

RapidoWrite appears to be a shortcut abbreviation tool which stores a list of abbreviations, such as greetings, signatures, and phrases, which can be accessed by using a shortcut command.

For example, enter a lengthy address as an abbreviation with the code “AD100”. Then, just type AD100 where you want the address and the whole thing just appears.

RapidoWrite works in most Mac applications so you’ll be saving time in no time; assuming that’s even possible within our space time continuum.

No Fab Four of Freebies would be complete without a freebie that’s actually useful, but that’s the case with RapidoSMTP.

Here’s the deal. Most of us have an email account or two or three or more, right? Most email accounts come with a POP server address which lets us download email messages, and an SMTP server address which lets us send email. That’s just how it works.

RapidoSMTP lets your Mac become the SMTP server using OS X’s built-in Postifix SMTP server. RapidoSMTP just turns it on so you can send email using your Mac as the SMTP server rather than a server somewhere else.

Is there benefit there? Yes, but not much. When you’re traveling, some dial up ISPs and hotel internet connections won’t let you send email through their system without using their SMTP server. Sometimes, but not always, using your Mac as an SMTP server works. Sometimes. But. Not. Always.

I’ll give App4Mac some credit. Their web site is decent and being served on a Mac. That’s just like Mac360. They’re giving away four utilities but they have other products for which they’ll gladly trade your hard earned dollars or Euros or Pesos or Rubles or whatever.
