Got Mac Skype? Get Call Recorder To Record Calls.

CallRecorderI like Skype. It’s sort of the iChat for the rest of the VoIP world. Skype audio and video work great on today’s Intel Macs.

Use Call Recorder to record your VoIP calls while using Skype. It’s easy. Click to record, click to stop.

What’s not to like about Apple’s iChat? Alright, it’s the cat’s meow when used between two Mac users, right? Unfortunately, too much of the rest of the world hasn’t figured out how to handle audio and video on their computer.

Enter Skype and Ecamm’s Call Recorder. Arguably, Skype is the largest VoIP (voice over IP) solution in the world, with well over 100-million users. And Skype for Mac users works very well as an alternative to iChat. Even Skype video conferencing works well for Mac users.

Enter Ecamm Technologies and a suite of handy utilities for Mac users.

There’s iGlasses which improves the quality of the video from your Mac’s iSight camera. Conference Recorder records iChat audio and video conferences and saves them as QuickTime movies.

For Skype users Call Recorder is a one trick pony that does a few extra tricks. Call Recorder is a simple application with a purpose. To record Skype calls and save the audio mix.

What you get on the screen is an elegant little window that says Call Recorder. Click the red button and it records. Click it again and it stops. Guess what? It also records Skype Video.

Files are saved in a variety of file sizes and quality, from simple MP3 format to high quality H.264 and AAC format. Even uncompressed, high quality audio recording is available. Call Recorder saves Skype voice mail messages, too.

If you’re a Skype user, Call Recorder is a great addition. If you like iChat and want to expand your horizons to the tens of millions of Skype users, download Skype and plug in Call Recorder.

Why is all this a good deal. Video conferencing is becoming more popular thanks to Apple’s built-in iSight camera and iChat. Skype works like iChat. You can record calls, record interviews and use them in a podcast, record the audio and the video as a QuickTime movie. Not bad for $14.95.

Don’t let the simple interface fool you. Call Recorder is doing a lot of work capturing your Skype Calls and saving them to your Mac. That means you can share those calls, or just use them to protect yourself by having a record of your online conversation.
