How Do You Manage Your Mac’s Bookmarks?& Without constant care, Bookmarks become unsorted and lost in a sea of lists with no rhyme or reason. Enter Bookdog. We’re big on organizing your Mac so organizing bookmarks is just another step in making your Mac personal. Bookmarks, like email, seem to get collected but not cared for, not managed, and grow unwieldy over time. What do you use to manage your browsers bookmarks? The browser, right? That’s the problem. Whether it’s Safari or Firefox, or Camino or OmniWeb, bookmarks still become messy. We’re great fans of Bookit to keep bookmarks synchronized between different browsers. Works great, costs less.
Taking control of your bookmarks to another level is Bookdog. If you’ve entered bookmark hell, check Bookdog. Simply put, Bookdog does to your bookmarks what you’ve always wanted but couldn’t get done. It will analyze your bookmarks, sort your bookmarks, even find duplications in bookmarks. Get your bookmarks all set up and running the way you want, and everytime you add a new one, click Bookdog to organize it. One of the biggest problems I have with my few thousand bookmarks is knowing whether or not the page or site still exists. Bookdog will verify the sites in your bookmarks list; check the web sites, pull down data, then give you a report. Trust me. That’s bunches easier than double-clicking each bookmark, waiting for the page to load, repeat ad nauseum. If you’re a heavy browser user and have been on the internet for a few years, you know what a pain bookmarks can be. Bookit and Bookdog do a good job at managing different browsers and their related bookmarks. It’s $15 that can save you dozens of hours of sorting, organizing, verifying. How about you? What are you using to manage bookmarks on your Mac? What are your bookmark problems and how did you solve them? • Article by Alexis Kayhill • Published on Friday, January 11, 2008
