How To Get Very Good Mac Software Very Cheap.
How about software for your Mac? Free is good. The Mac has plenty of excellent software applications that are free. How about 90-percent off? I’d go for Microsoft Office 2008 at 90-percent off. Microsoft can afford it. Bill Gates can afford it. Hell will freeze over before Office hits the shelves at 90-percent off. That would be a steal. One of the benefits of being out of the office for almost a month is digging through all the email on my Mac. That’s a joy, right? Not. Unless one of the email messages has a bargain that’s too good to resist. So it is with another of the MacHeist promotions. I got back just in time. Hurry. You’ll miss this one and regret it for the rest of your life. Or, until the next one comes out. For those with a nose for bargains and values, MacHeist is a Mac software application package—15 applications for $49.99. I dug through my email and found it today with only hours to spare. So, I apologize for the delay. Better late than never, right?
If you bought each of the applications separately, the total cost would be about $500. You pay less than 10-percent of that, hence the aforementioned 90-percent off. Most of us won’t have a need for all 15 of the applications, but the price tag remains a high value bargain at that amount. What you get is a grab bag of software except you know what you’re getting. WriteRoom, the distraction free word processor. BrowsBack for tracking web browser history. Little Snitch to see who’s phoning home on your Mac. There’s TechToolPro for managing a variety of maintenance functions. You get the idea. Also included is Cocktail, Profcast, Amadeus Pro, GraphicConverter, Intaglio and many others. The MacHeist promotions have proven to be highly beneficial to Mac users, and somewhat beneficial to Mac application developers. Yes, they sell their product dirt cheap, but end up with thousands of new customers who may upgrade to future versions. It’s a win win situation of sorts. But that begs the question: “What other bargains of value exist among Mac software applications?“ What applications do you have that are absolute bargains, ultra valuable to you, but cost little to nothing to obtain (legally)? iLife ‘06 is certainly a bargain, even at $79, but better with each new Mac. What other Mac apps do you use that would qualify for such excitement? Off Topic Note: I’ve updated the Mac360 Store with over 100 new categories—More Macs, more iPods, more Mac books, more software. Click Here and select any category for more detail, or use the handy search function. Whenever you buy from Amazon through the Mac360 Store you help support Mac360. The Store has discounts and special pricing on Microsoft Office for Mac ($125), Apple’s iWork ‘08 suite ($62), and Adobe Photoshop Elements ($70). Where? At the newly remodeled Mac360 Store. Now with more fiber. • Article by Kate MacKenzie • Published on Thursday, July 19, 2007
