iFile Converts Files. Drag And Drop. Click. Done.
It’s a gift. So is iFile. It’s one of those free utilities that your Mac needs because you need what it does. Friday’s are a good day for freebies and the Friday before Macworld is no exception, what with your New Product Anxiety™ running at blood pressure popping levels. Most Mac applications convert files from one format to another. Open Word and save a file as RTF. Open TextEdit and save the same file as text. What about when you have two or three different formats and want to convert them to a single format? Aha. Extra steps, extra clicks, extra effort. Trust me. Right now I’m 25 pounds over weight with more months left in the term, so extra effort anything is not on my list.
iFile converts files. Windows to Mac. HTML Web Archives. XML documents. Word documents. Text documents. Back and forth. There’s just one problem with iFile and it’s not the price (it’s Friday, so it’s free). One problem. iFile is so useful, works so well, and is sufficiently efficient and effective that I want it to do more. Conversions between file formats isn’t difficult. It’s laborious. Usually, you have to open the document in the mother application (see what’s on my mind lately?), like Microsoft Word. The you do a Save As, and select from the list of conversion formats. That’s not hard, but in an office environment it can be arduous and mindless; Open, Save As, Open, Save As, Open, wait. Did I open that one already? See? It’s much easier to grab a bunch of documents and drag them to iFile and click. But back to that nasty problem. iFile does exactly what it says it will do. File format conversions. Fast. Free. But I’d like graphic file conversions, too (yes, I know there are already Mac applications that do that, but with two months to go before delivering what appears to be a baby hippopotamus, I’m inclined to not bother with some things). Graphic conversions. Data conversions. Spreadsheet conversions. Why do I want iFile to do all those. Because; Open, Save As, Open, Save As, Open, wait. Did I open that one already?
iFile just needs to do more. The developers are AlienCrypt and they have a number of other useful utilities, but I really like iFile. Remember, at Alienware, they always say, “Generated Microsoft Word Documents (converted) are 100% compatible with Office on Windows and Mac.“ Or, something like that. It’s Friday. It’s free. It works. As my husband tells me all the time, “Deal with it.“ Click Here to get your very own copy.
