My Short List Of Worthy Dashboard Widgets.
Here’s my list of the most used Widgets on my Mac and why. It’s not a pretty list. It’s hard to argue against this: most Dashboard Widgets are nothing more than solutions looking for a problem. Pure eye candy. It’s also hard to admit it, but most of us have a few Widgets that we love, use regularly, and would like more of. Widescreen Macs. Thousands of Widgets. Out of the multitudes of colorful Mac OS X candy for the masses, the short list of Widgets is very short indeed. Apple’s Dashboard web site has over two dozen Widget categories, thousands of Widgets, and poor old Carol has to struggle to name 10 that I like and use. See if my list compares well to yours, then tell us which Widgets you’re using, actually using each day. This isn’t my collection. It’s the list of Widgets I use daily.
#10 - The Onion
#9 - Say Cheese
#8 - pCalc
#7 - Radar in Motion
#6 - Package Tracker
#5 - Countdown Calendar
#4 - Sing That iTunes
#3 - Menu Butler
#2 - Movie Showtime
#1 - Tie: Weather, iCal Events, Stocks
What’s the problem with my list of Dashboard Widgets? What’s running in your Dashboard? Check out the daily list of our 9 Word mini-Reviews at NoodleMac, and Kate's daily in-depth Mac software reviews at PixoBebo. Off Topic #72 - Need to save a few dollars on Mac software? Click Here to save almost $10 on the new version of Photoshop Elements, and almost $20 on the new Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac from the Mac360 Store (it’s really Amazon). Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage and more-- barely $50 more than Apple’s iWork ‘08.
Off Topic #6 - The MacHeist is back. In case you missed it a few months ago, MacHeist is a great way for Mac users to get 12 top Mac applications and utilities for $49. Many of these have been reviewed on Mac360, so we highly recommend that you take a look. The value, what you get for what you pay, is remarkable.
