New From Apple? Super PowerBooks With HD Screens?
A clever web site managed to develop an Apple-like web page with the latest information about PowerBooks. These so-called new HD PowerBooks, according to this fake Apple web site, come in 12”, 15” and 17” versions, though only the 15” and 17” have the ATI Radeon X800 video card for true HD performance; not the 12” model. Otherwise, the web site looks exactly like an Apple-branded web page featuring new PowerBooks. Wishful thinking? Yes. The list of features is a good one. Airport Extreme, Bluetooth antenna built in to the PB lid, DVI video out, S-video out, Gigabit Ethernet, a single Firewire 800 port, matched with a single Firewire 400 port. The larger models sport PC card capability, too. All models have 512MG of RAM, 100GB hard disk. Since it’s all fantasy, I wonder why they didn’t go with a full gig of RAM, and 120 gig hard drives. Apple’s Aluminum PowerBooks are now three years old. The 17” model will be three years old in early 2006, so this may be the last of the PowerPC-chip models, as Intel-based Macs are expected to begin a roll-out later in 2006.
Click Here for additional details. Again, the link is not to an Apple page, only a page that’s cleverly designed to look like an Apple product page. I like it. But why couldn’t they cut the price by another $500? Off Topic Note: Here’s a few questions for Mac users: (1) What’s the world’s fastest browser? (2) What’s the best notebook for Mac users?
