The buzz over the iPhone just continues to buzz, and buzz again.
Based on what you know now, would you buy an iPhone when it ships? If not within six months, when? If not, why not? Take the Mac360 poll below.
Frankly, it’s been more than awhile since Apple stirred up this much dust. Well, maybe within a couple of years when Steve Jobs announced the move to Intel chips.
Has it been that long already? It seems like only yesterday. As to the iPhone, we’ll wait about six more months before it ships, and perhaps longer for those of us not willing to get the original bug-laden version.
I can’t remember a Mac event without mention of a Mac. The iPhone has already made more noise than the original iPod and that was about $400, right?
We know that things change over time, so here’s what I predict will change between now and when the first iPhone’s ship to Mac and PC users.
First, it won’t be available in June. Hey, this is Apple we’re talking about. Second, expect a name change or Cisco ends up with egg-on-the-face syndrome.
I’m OK with just plain old “Apple Phone” or the “iPod Phone” or even the more dramatic “iPad.”
Finally, specifications may change a bit, too, and we still don’t know what Cingular will charge for the two year contract for the “privilege” of using the first-off-the-assembly-line iPhones.
Take all that into consideration. Then, watch the QuickTime movie of Steve Jobs keynote presentation of the iPhone just one more time. Then, ask yourself if you’re planning to buy an iPhone?
Or, will you wait? If so, how long will you wait? Inquiring minds want to know.
