Search Engine Keyword And Rank Tools For The Mac.

SearchManaging a number of web sites can be tricky business for webmasters who use the Mac.

Search engines require constant monitoring and updates for keywords and ranking. RAGE Software’s suite of Mac utilities for webmaster offer an alternative to Firefox extensions.

Without a hefty advertising budget, many webmasters are at the mercy of the big search engines to deliver visitors to their sites. Those search engines have different criteria for ranking sites, including links to a site, keywords used, and so on.

Mac utilities which help webmasters manage the complicated keyword process and track keyword rankings are not easily found. Fortunately, one small Mac software developer specializes in such handy tools.

RAGE Software has a number of utilities to make the life of a Mac webmaster easier, more efficient, more productive. Among them are Domainer, which tracks domain names, and the highly touted Google Sitemap Automator, which creates an XML directory of a web site’s pages. Search engines such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo use the sitemap standard to index sites.

Search engines also rank sites based on keywords and how well they match content, links, and other criteria. The higher the ranking on specific keywords, the more traffic a site is likely to receive from major search engines.

So how does a webmaster know which keywords are the best to use for a given site? The whole process is not easy, and the methodology varies from one search engine to the next. SE Keyword helps you to figure out which keywords are best, relative to your site’s content.

SE Keyword is a free utility that works in concert with the other RAGE Software utilities for Mac webmasters.

SE Keyword downloads your site’s content, examines both key words and common words, and suggests relevant keywords and phrases, including a list of related or specific keyword phrases to help you improve rankings and hits.

That’s a start, but there’s much more to the keyword and rankings issue. RAGE provides another utility called SE Rank which tracks your site, or other sites, to show you where they appear in search engine rankings. Remember, the higher the ranking, the more traffic a site is likely to receive from a search engine such as Google or Yahoo.

SE Rank tracks your sites and your competitor’s sites and displays where and when each appears in over 40 search engines. You can use the utility to check on hundreds of keywords. Knowing which keywords get the most search engine results means more traffic, which means more page views.

Filters are included to help Mac users winnow and organize ranking information for important keywords. Find the worst keywords and toss the out of your site. Find the more attractive keywords and put them into your site’s keywords and links.

Search engine performance and keyword management are full of trial and error efforts. The RAGE tools reduce the manual methods and give you point and click control and management of what you need to improve your site’s rankings and keyword positioning.

Most webmasters, Mac or Windows or Linux, will use many of the Firefox extensions for web development and management. Most are free, though few offer the same functionality of the RAGE suite. If domains and web sites are your business, check out the utilities from RAGE.

Off Topic Note: Which Mac do you plan to buy next? It’s rumored that Apple will release updated MacBooks soon, perhaps with a design similar to the hot selling MacBook Air. Will you buy a Mac soon or wait awhile? Click Here to take the Mac360 Buyer’s Poll.

Have you compared Rage SERank to Advanced Web Ranking?

I was looking for a comparison from those who have actually used the programs. It seems AWR is more comprehensive but maybe harder to use…
