I’ve heard it said that may not be good to argue with a man who buys ink by the barrel.
It’s OK to point out that such a man may still be full of crap. Enter another Wall Street Journal “journalist” with crap where a brain should be.
The notorious hit-baiter Michael S. Malone, that journalist joker, and hater of all things Mac, Apple, and sensible, is at it again.
Writing in the once worthy Wall Street Journal, Malone’s “iGenius” piece simultaneously shines and spits on Steve Jobs, Apple, Macs, and, yes, Mac users.
It’s one thing to have an opinion on various topics of current events, Apple and iPhone included, but it’s something else again to piss for the sake of pissing on others.
That’s what Malone does, and The Wall Street Journal should be ashamed for fomenting such vitriolic venom in public.
For example, Malone calls Mac users, “Macolytes” and “Macsturbators” and proceeds to spew false facts left and right. Are there no longer fact checkers at WSJ?
Oh, my bad. There are no fact checkers at the Wall Street Journal.
Malone says that Apple Computer deliberately scheduled Macworld to be opposite the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Wrong. IDG owns and runs Macworld, not Apple.
Malone says that Apple has notoriously high prices, but, as expected offered no facts for the non-existent WSJ fact checkers to check.
In paragraph after paragraph Malone polishes the Apple head, calling Jobs a “business genius, the greatest market of our time” while calling him a “monster” and a “megalomaniac” and criminal.
I take particular offense at Malone’s use of the word Macolyte as a euphemism for Mac user. Worse, is his admittedly cruel “Macsterbators” to describe the tens of millions of Mac users.
Hello! Wall Street Journal? Are you listening? It’s one thing to criticize and voice an opinion in commentary, it’s something else again to piss on readers. You did and I don’t like it.
Worse, it came from a writer with a horrible record for prognosticating all things Apple, so it’s obvious the dude has an ax to grind because of his fortune telling competence.
Witness Malone’s Apple R.I.P piece from Forbes (Malone can’t keep a steady job?) in 2000, where he spews memorable, quotable, verbal turds:
For example, “Steve Jobs can’t run companies...” Hmmm. Sold Pixar and owns a chunk of Disney. Apple stock, profits, sales, at record levels.
For example, “Apple is a small fish, and the pond is going dry...” Hmmm. Repeat above.
For example, “Steve Jobs has put Apple again in a precarious position...” Hmmm. Repeat, ad nauseum.
Malone’s motive for writing about Apple, Jobs, and Macs is pure, unadulterated vengeance of the worst kind.
I’ll admit that everyone is entitled to an opinion. It’s unfortunate that the once grand Wall Street Journal hasn’t recognized that their writers are pissing on readers in the age of citizen journalism, and that creates a dinosaurial stench that sticks to the WSJ’s fossilized corpse.
