Do you trust lawyers? Would you trust your case to a lawyer who admits that a Mac is just too difficult to learn?
How stupid is the lawyer who will admit he’s unable to make a Mac work?
More stupid than most elementary school students, who have little trouble operating a Mac.
Attorney Larry Bodine, writing for Legal Technology in Law has provided the single longest list of idiot, jackass remarks ever recorded in a single article.
Bodine claims he was “suckered in by the hype about freedom from viruses” on Macs.
He says his Mac, a PowerMac G5, can’t display web sites properly, and isn’t compatible with Microsoft Word.
His “silvery box of frustration” required a Dummies book. That must have been the beginning of the end.
To pity, disdain, chastise, or hate? Which do you prefer to foist upon our last Jackass candidate of last week?
Larry Bodine claims to be an attorney who’s smart, according to his own admission, yet also admits that running a Mac is beyond the scope of his ability.
A lawyer is often required to be firm, knowledgable, and an advocate for a client’s position in a case.
Yet, he says he “was encouraged to make the switch by artists, ad agency employees and junior high school kids, even though I don’t really create graphics, listen to iTunes or make movies.”
Operating the Mac’s one button mouse was beyond his ability as a computer user.
Following the simplest of instructions apparently was beyond the scope of what some would call The World’s Stupidist Attorney™.
First, we need to know a l ittle about Larry to get an idea of where his troubles originate.
He’s a member of the Law Technology News Editorial Advisory Board, is a law firm marketing consultant, based in Glen Ellyn, Ill. and has his own web site at http://www.LarryBodine.com.
He’s smart. So he says in his own article. Yet he managed to show himself to be a complete and utter idiot when using was is arguably the easiest PC and operating system available in mass production.
His statements of admission would not be admitted in court without a psychiatric examination ordered by a judge. Seriously.
Read his article and see if you don’t come to the same basic conclusions.
He’s either a complete moron who bought his law degree from the back of a Marvel comic book, or, he’s escaped from a psychiatric ward and thinks he’s Dr. Robert Bruce Banner.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion about Macs; especially when switching from years of abuse on Windows PCs.
Not everyone is entitled to represent themselves in a court of law. What’s apparent is that the gifted and special Larry Bodine should not be allowed to practice law except to videotape a TV series on how not to practice law.
Another clue from the clueless? He’s an AOL user.
Perhaps a quick visit to a local elementary school would have enlightened Mr. Bodine to the fact that iCal and Mail work well without a .Mac account.
Also fact is that poor Larry Bodine, obviously a relative of Jethro Bodine of The Beverly Hillbillies, has written a superbly crafted flame bait article, simply designed to arouse Mac user’s bull crap radar.
Consider it sufficiently aroused, Mr. Bodine.
Assume, just for the moment, that he’s a real lawyer with a real practice who really switched to a Mac and had real troubles. Really.
It’s one thing to want to rectify those problems, it’s something else again to tell the world about it in such detail; sufficient to make himself look like the computer PC clown of the year, a perfect storm of bozo.
After reading of his exploits with a Mac, would you honestly want him as your attorney in any case?
If I were about to get a divorce, I’d recommend that my husband hire the guy.
There are so many holes in his whole story that I honestly don’t know where to begin, so I’ll start with the conclusion.
If we ever come up with an award for Jackass, Idiot, Bozo, Clown Lawyers, Larry, you’re the guy we’ll name the cup after.
Yes, by all means you should get rid of your Mac and go back to a Windows laptop.
After all you’ve been through, I can honestly conclude that if the end result of cousins marrying is an attorney of your calibere, then our society is doomed.
I’m in strong company on this one, including Wil Shipley, Jeff Harrell, and Giles Turnbull.
Special thanks go to half a dozen Mac360 readers who pointed out the error of Jethro... uh, Larry Bodine’s ways in the Mac360 Dumbass Alert.
