A friend has sent you a link to the following article: http://mac360.com/index.php/mac360/comments/28/ Who’s your daddy? How’d the iTunes Music Store compare to the competition in our recent poll? Nearly 600 voted and the result is a landslide. The combination of iPod, iTunes, iTunes Music Store, Mac or Windows is unbeatable right now. Check the results… Frankly, it’s no contest, and that’s surprising considering how much money has been spent by online music store rivals. Retail giant Wal-mart, top music brand Naptser, and Coca-Cola, among others have launched their online music stores. No one matches the success of the iTunes Music Store. Of course, I could rant on and on about all the benefits and differences between the Apple site and everyone else. Let’s let one picture speak a thousand words. That tells the story, don’t you think. The poll has two parts. POLL ONE: How much money do you spend online to download music? POLL TWO: Which online music store do you use to download music? THe iTunes Music Store won, hands down. 90% for the US store and 7% (surprisingly high number considering the UK store just recently opened) for the UK iTunes Music Store. That means less than 5% for all the other stores combined. Ouch. Now, about those online expenditures. Again, a picture speaks a thousand words. The largest group was $100 to $199 at 19% of total. 13% spent between $500 and $999. Apple’s target for the iPod mini would appear to be accurate as most users won’t have more than 1,000 songs to play. Now. That will change and hard drive capacity will continue to grow and the number of songs downloaded will grow and uses for the iPod will increase (can you say, “Video iPod?” To vote in the poll, just Click Here.
