Some Macs come with power, beauty, brains, brawn, and a mortgage.
If there is one thing that excites long time Mac users, it's the thought of getting a new Mac. It's time. I'm ready. Unfortunately, based on the price tag of some of Apple's newer Macs, I might just need a mortgage to get my new Mac. That assumes there will be anyone left to borrow money from come January and Macworld. How much money? How about $23,000?

Your files are worth time and money. How easy is your Mac backup?
Thanks to my trademarked Nag With A Smile™ routine, both of our next door neighbors have Macs. Imagine my surprise when I asked Neighbor to the Right how she backs up her Mac's files. She said, “What do you mean-- backup?” See a problem there?

How to join the junk email and spam craze with Mac Mass Mailer.
I get a lot of email each day and most of it is spam, junk email, a digital plague of sorts. Most Mac users have spam filters; junk email systems to trap and discard unwanted email. So, how do you feel about a Mac application which lets Mac users join the world of mass emailers? Actually, mass email has a place in Mac life.

iMac, Mac mini, and MacPro models need improvements. Now.
One of the most disappointing headlines I've read recently had to do with Apple squashing the rumor that new Macs were on the way. Why? And, why not? The why is easy. I want a new Mac, preferably a quad core iMac or a new MacPro. The why not? Apple probably doesn't have much waiting in the wings for Macworld so they need the new Macs to wait until January.

Email attachments have limits. FPT can be very complicated. Solutions?
How big is your Mac's hard disk? Big enough, right? Hard disk space has never been more plentiful or less expensive. Guess what? Files we use have never been larger and sharing is what we do these days. How do you send large files to friends, family, co-workers? Email attachments have finite limits. Uploading can be complex for the average Mac or PC user. Is there a solution to a growing problem of file transfer? What's yours?

Mac maker makes fun of Microsoft's ad budget vs. Vista development.
The competition between products is more than a little like the competition fostered in politics. When one candidate says this, the other candidate has a TV commercial the next day twisting and distorting the position. No matter the position, phrase, or statement, a political candidate can, and often does, take their competitors words and throw them back. Guess what? Apple and Microsoft do it, too. Who's winning?

Microsoft talks about why Apple products are more expensive.
Yes, it's politics as usual this year in the U.S. Politicians make my head hurt and my eyes burn by slinging dirt and mud on their opponents. Unfortunately, it must be the way people deal with conflict. Republicans vs. Democrats. Windows PCs, vs. Macs. What caught my hair on fire this time is another wade through the Apple Tax Trough, this time by a Microsoftie.

New industrial design, faster graphics, lighter, more speed, low price.
Mac users love Apple's special events. Today our favorite Mac maker took the wraps off a bunch of new Mac notebook models. Less expensive, new manufacturing design, faster, more storage, new keypad, new displays, faster graphics performance. It's not all good, bad, or ugly. There's some beauty and plenty of missing pieces.

It's official. Soon, a new line of Mac notebooks. Cheaper, faster, cooler?
Apple seems not to worry much about leaks or exposing product launch plans to the public. For months Mac prognosticators have predicted an update to the aging MacBook and, especially the MacBook Pro line of Apple notebooks. Apple plans to introduce the new line next week. Will this be an evolutionary, or revolutionary change in the popular notebooks? How about an $800 starting price?

Has our favorite tech company learned to listen to customers?
Rummaging through my dozens of news sources today I saw a snippet (on Yahoo!, of all places) about Apple reversing course. Following plenty of public noise, Apple decided to discontinue the onerous non-disclosure agreement which iPhone developers signed. They're now free to communicate with one another about what works and what doesn't.

World stock markets take a beating. Apple drops even more. Why?
What goes up must come down, right? The world's stock markets have had a good run, which has abruptly ended. Apple's notoriously glamorous and somewhat volatile stock has been driven down harder than the stock market as a whole. Why? What happened? It can't be the shorts. Is there something fundamentally wrong with Apple?

Which browser is fastest on a Mac? Safari, Firefox, or something else?
Remember how PC and Mac owners once argued about the relative speed of their computers? There was a time when a computer's speed, for whatever it was worth, was measured in megahertz, then gigahertz. These days no one cares much about speed. What about browsers? There are many good browsers available, for Mac and Windows. Which one is the fastest? Does anyone care?
