Video Dating, Porn, Sex To Be Huge On iPod Video.

FunStandardization is important in technology. Electricity. TCP/IP. HTML. Email. Browsers.

Once a standard is in place, the masses follow. So it is with the iPod and music, and now the iPod and video.

Video dataing, porn, and sex will be huge on the new iPods with video. Huge.

Pornography, online dating, online singles clubs, and the like already suck up a huge percentage of internet bandwidth.

It’s pervasive in the browser world, but the browser isn’t the same as a QuickTime movie.

Another explosion is about to begin because the iPod makes video “personal” just as it did with music.

“Personal” means actual 320x240 pixel H.264 videos of porn movies. Can video dating Podcasts be more than a few days away (I’m still looking)?

Think about the possibilities. And the resulting problems.

First, the possibilities. I see dozens of online dating services setting up video “Podcasts” services. Pay $29.95 for the privilege of downloading Podcasts of hot (and not so) videos of men and women.

320x240 pixel movies will show up very soon because the porn industry now has a ‘portable standard’ that didn’t exist before.

As I understand it (my personal experience is limited in this area), porn movies are available in MPG movie format, Windows media format, DIvX, and a host of others.

Now, with the iPod sporting video, there’s a way to get your jollies and take them with you. QuickTIme and H.264 will get hotter than Peter North and Jenna Jameson in ‘Debbie Does Dallas and goes North to Alaska.’

Don’t expect to see porn movies or dating Podcasts on the iTunes Music Store. Just look for other movie stores to pop up all over the web that shout loud and clear, “Porn Podcasts!” “Podcast Dating Videos.”

You get the idea.

Second, it’s been said that the “DVD Standard” became such because of the porn industry’s massive sales reach. Perhaps so, and if so, expect the iPod video “standard” to take off, too.

It’s just a matter of time and bandwidth.

By setting the standard for videos ‘on the go’ with the iPod video, Apple standardizes another aspect of video distribution.

To that end, it should be noted that Apple Computer recently filed for a trademark on the term “Vingle.” Video and ‘single?’

The US Patent and Trademark Office describes ‘Vingle’ as a video version of the iTunes Music Store, as well as a line of computers, handheld devices, electronic notepads, and terminals.

Finally, what’s really happening here? Change and control.

People will be able to control their purchase of content in different ways, particularly the storage of content on Macs and PCs, and making content more mobile than ever.

The iPod isn’t going to die because cell phones can play music. The iPod may very well morph into that ‘mobile device’ you have to take with you everywhere.

Music? Certainly? Personal “PDA-like” information? Defintely. Last night’s TV shows you didn’t have time to watch? Excellent example.

Video dating? Podcasting will explode. Video porn on the go? Naturally.

Is all that hot sex and potential guy and gal relationships really worthy on a 320x240 pixel screen in your pocket?

For some, yes. Not fully understood yet is that the iPod can fit into a universal dock. The dock works with Apple’s new Apple Remote. We’re only a step away from having all those pieces connect to your TV.

What’s next? Sony TV’s at the Apple Store?

Maybe. Podcast dating services and Podcast porn movies are in line first.
