Desktop Publishing: Well And Alive On My Mac.
I’m an old hand. Don’t let that fool you. A manicure can do wonders. I’m an old hand at desktop publishing on the Mac. I used PageMaker. I remember ReadySetGo. I use Adobe InDesign.
I’m very impressed with BeLight’s Swift Publisher. Why? Swift is swift. Cool. Elegant. It works. A value package with style.
With all the attention the web is getting these days, it would be easy to forget about desktop publishing. You know, printing. Paper. Brochures. Documents.
Guess what? DTP is still here and doing well. It started.... (excerpted).

I’m like you, a little old hand. I have used Page Maker, Quark (gosh I hated that program) and am now an InDesign user through and though. I even used indeisgn when it was in the early stages and filled with bugs and project-destroying surprises.
That said, InDesign has come a very long way and I think they have lots of room to expand and keep things fresh. Now in it’s CS3 version it’s very well cleaned up and produces consistent quality time after time.
I have checked out the software a little bit and it looks nice. While you would have to pry InDesign out of my cold dead hands before I made the switch, I think this is perfect for beginners as there is less of a learning curve and less out of pocket. Every now an then a customer will have me design a newsletter template that they can edit themselves. I haven been using MS Publisher (terrible program) for that in the past but I will be making the switch to Swift Publisher now since it’s just as easy and more powerful.
