How To Use A Mac To Track Your Family Genes

Family TreeAll Mac users are part of a family—a family of users. The Mac family is growing, with members all around the world.

All of us come from a genetic family, too. Have you ever created a family tree to track your family’s roots? It’s easier said than done, but Mac users can rejoice. The choices for family tree tracking are numerous.

My family has been growing by leaps and bounds, as in three babies in less than four years. Now that I’ve finally figured out what causes.... (excerpted).

We’ve used Reunion for well about 12 years. If anyone is going to develop a genealogy that spans more than a few generations and families, it is the most comprehensive, easiest to use Mac genealogy software, considering that it can easily export and import files and works seamlessly with TNG Software’s web based product for uploading to a family tree website. Other products have limited fields and less flexibility. Yes, it is more expensive than other genealogy software for Mac, but you get what you pay for!

I use Reunion and have been very pleased with it. While the interface gets some getting used to, it has everything you could ever need for family study. I have over 2500 ancestors and haven’t noticed any slowdown since I started. Searches are fast and reports are built almost instantly. I also export GEDCOM files for upload to Ancestry.com and Roots.com without any problem.

Mac Family Tree is what I have on my Mac. I was shopping around at the Mac store for a new game or two awhile ago, actually we all where still in Tiger. I had my fiancee with me (who is a p.c. by the way. Yeah sad yuh?) She hates it when we go to the mall and I start heading towards the Apple store because she knows I am going to beg kick cry and do what ever it takes to get what I want in their. Well I was surprised that day because she started looking at stuff and found the Mac Family Tree software and bought it. I took her by the hand after that and pulled her towards the IMac’s with my fingers crossed that she would buy one and I could finally throw all the p.c.‘s in this house in the fire pit in the back yard but it has yet to happen. She loves to work on the, “Mac Family Tree” on my Mac and I seem to be catching her on my Pro more and more these days. I think tomorrow I am going to tell her I will refuse to get married to her until she goes Mac. No Joke, I want these p.c.‘s out of my house period.
