“Dude, you’re gettin’ a Dell.” Years after the TV commercials were dropped because the Dell hawker did drugs, Dell the Windows PC maker is coming out of the economy closet and gettin’ all chic and hip.
Who is Dell going after? You. Apple’s Mac customer. I can tell that’s true because Dell’s new Adamo ultra notebook is all chic and hip. How do I know? ‘Cause Dell said so.
Here’s the deal. Dell is having troubles, big troubles. Cheap PCs are all the rage for.... (excerpted).

This Dell thing doesn’t look all that small, at least in the Flash images where the models hold the Adamo. I know the so-called “netbook” category seems to be selling right now but, read my lips, Apple will NOT go into the netbook business. Why? Not enough money. You cannot build a high quality ‘notebook-like’ product and sell it at that price point. I think Apple will drop something between the MacBook and the iPod touch.
The real question is, “Will it run Mac OS X or iPhone OS X?”

People with money will still spend money, even in a rough economy. Apple will do just fine and Dell knows it. This is a smart, albeit, difficult objective for Dell. They have a reputation as being the cheap PC box maker and there’s no money in that. Apple learned that a long time ago. Build what people want and they’ll give you money.
Kudos to Dell for trying, but they have a long way to go.

“A Damned ‘0’”
Caterpillar just laid off 2,400 employees.
Not a good time to be choosing between Onyx or Pearl, but if looking “marvelous” is more important than working “marvelous” then “A Damned ‘0’” is your ‘bling’.
Hearing “Dude, you’re getting a Lexus” is just just a little scary!

Not even close. The Air weighs a whole pound less than the Adamo and the Air has better performance. If the Adamo would run Mac OS X then it may have an argument but its weight is closer to that of the regular MacBook so why not get much more performance for the extra 1/2 pound of weight??
