Microsoft’s New Anti-Mac PC TV Ads Are Very Good.

MicrosoftMicrosoft is the anti-Apple. For years, Apple’s TV and online commercials have skewered Microsoft’s clumsy Windows, and PCs in general.

Now, Microsoft is firing back by perpetuating about the only myth left unbusted by the Mac’s recent market share growth. Macs are more expensive than PCs. For the same dollar you get a lot more PC. These new TV commercials are very good.

I’ve had a week long email debate with my Mac360 co-conspirator, the anti-diminutive Barbara.... (excerpted).

I’m an IT guy, I work on Windows, cisco network devices and Linux systems all day long. When I come home I don’t want to fuss around too much and my Mac Mini is just perfect. (I’m too cheap for an iMac, and I think my current 24” screen is better than a Cinema display anyway - it’s matt) I do wish Apple had a mini tower with the guts of the 24” iMac, but without the huge cost of the Mac Pro.
Now until my Mini, I had always built my own PCs, but now, for Christmas I might buy myself a new Mini, and max out the CPU to 2.6GHz, and just add the RAM and upgrade the drive myself.
It is worth the money for something so small, quiet, and reasonably powerful. There is nothing like it in the regular PC world.

John D. is right. I have an iBook (2005) and a 24-inch iMac (2006) combined price for the 2 - a bit over $4000 and, in my opinion, worth every cent. My wife opted for a Windows Vista (HP) PC due to cost and the fact she isn’t on the computer nearly as much as I am. She had a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) within the first 30 days. Whenever an update to her PC is pending, even if she selects postpone the update, within a few minutes her PC reboots anyway. Needless to say, she’s just about had it up to here ^ with the PC and Windows Vista. Still, we did save a Lot of money by getting her the PC as opposed to a Mac smile. I’ve had my iBook since September 2005, with only one issue of having to have the DC-in board replaced (it charges the battery), which was done under my Apple Care warranty. I’ve had my 24-inch iMac since September 2006 - with no problems / issues of any kind. In my honest opinion, I’ve gotten my money’s worth, and then some, out of my Apple Mac computers. By the way, my wife is thinking her “next” computer will be a Mac smile.

I thought I was leaving Apple and I tried. I bought a Sony that lasted only five weeks, made it past the store return policy so now I am stuck with it. Filled the bath tub full and threw the Sony in the water while it was still on and plugged in, bye bye. Went to the Apple store and bought the new 17 inch Macbook Pro. Ordered a new third generation quad Mac Pro that is on the Fed-X truck right now to be delivered.

Moral? You get what you pay for. Stay with Apple.
