Snail Mail Lives: Use Your Mac To Print Labels

Snail MailSure, the world economy is going to hell in a hand basket but I know that all is not lost. Today I received 13 pieces of junk mail; letters, flyers, catalogs, offers.

Someone somewhere is spending money to get me to spend my money. All that mail has one thing in common. Labels. And my address.

Despite living in the 21st century labels and addresses are important to Mac users, and it is easier than ever to use a Mac to create your own mailing lists (not email; the real kind, you know, the kind delivered by snails).... (excerpted).

Maybe it’s just me, but I use snail mail so infrequently any more that when I do want to add a return address, I just put the envelope through my printer.  I have two templates made in Pages, one for #10 and one for #6.75 envelopes.  In about the same time it would take me to find my seldom-used labels, I can run even pre-printed envelopes through my printer with perfect results.

I’ve been using InTouch With, a small contact management program for several years - it has always printed envelopes and labels, and that, very easily. Only problem is I cannot get it to export very easily to Address Book. The only reason I want to export is for the compatibility Address Book has with other programs. Otherwise, I stay with InTouch With. Its made by Prarie Group Software. Highly recommended. Handles languages like Japanese, etc. too!

Dymo LabelWriter is just the job for labels, much easier and quicker than messing around with sheets (unless you want 100’s at a time). Software, although not perfect, even works with Leopard. Thermal paper - no ink. Had mine for years, wouldn’t be without it.
