The MacBook Of The Future: New, Or Low Price?

MacWheel width= Amid all the hoopla surrounding Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iPhone 3Gs and the newly enhanced MacBook Pro line, a few questions remain unanswered.

What happened to the MacBook? What will be the next MacBook or what will take its place? What new product does Apple have ready to replace the gaping hole in the Mac line?

What hole? Last week Apple had a MacBook line and a MacBook Pro line. This week the only MacBook is plastic. Arguably, a good deal at $999, but $200 more.... (excerpted).

No way will Apple build a typical netbook. It’s either redefine the segment or stay out altogether.

I think we’ll get cheaper MacBooks, but no netbook, and no tablet device.

Apple’s tablet device is the iPod touch.

Apple has to address the netbook phenonmenon differently that PC makers. Those books are cheap, cheaper, and more cheaper. That’s not how Apple rolls.

I’m thinking some kind of pad or slate, but the term “book” fits nicely. If it uses the term “Mac” then it’s Mac OS X. Otherwise, it’s just a bigger iPod touch.

I hope Apple is careful with what they are investing in. After all times are hard, the stock market seems to be diving slowly again lately. Washington states we are all out of borrowed foreign money.

I bet a net-book of some kind is coming soon. I would never buy it, 1. I hate small screens, slow processors and wimpy hard drives or small solid state drives and not to mention no optical drive (that is if that is what Apple is up to). I prefer to go for the big dogs, just my style for computers though. Everyone has different tastes when it comes to what kind of computer fits their needs.

I think Apple should keep the Macbook name, the name seems to have taken off for Apple so far so why take a chance and change?
