What’s New? FREE Calculator For Mac OS X.

One of the early Mac OS X calculators was KoalaCalc™ from Macropod Software. KoalaCalc™ is free for the download.

Calculators, of course, are somewhat deceiving. At first, they look like, well, uh, calculators. However, the functionality going on behind the scenes is a marvel of science, mathematics, and programming.

KoalaCalc™ has two modes, just like the calculator that comes with Mac OS X. In fact, in Simple Mode, the two are hard to tell apart.

I downloaded Calculator++, by GerryMander’s suggestion above. It starts where KoalaCalc and all the others run out of steam. I highly recommend it.

If you’re looking for a superior calculator for Mac OS X that does conversions of over 25,000 units, supports bases 2-36 in floating point as well as integer, can do RPN, Algebraic, and Simple Algebraic entry modes, and a bundle more, you should try Calculator++. The new version works on Mac OS X, as well as Linux, Solaris, and Windows. It’s a Java application; that’s why. Just do a Google search on “Calculator++”, and you’ll find it. Download “Calculator.app.zip” for Mac OS X.
