“You left out one alternative, Apple’s Disk Copy (10.2)/Disk Utility(10.3). It makes a backup to a disk image. Other than that, I completly agree with your conclusion. Retrospect was a huge drag after Disk Express. I was very disapointed. CC has limited functionality compared to SD. I use SD for backups both at home and on a Mac I administer at my University form my advising professor.”
I agree with Joseph. SD is a great application. Look for a future version to have an unattended automatic backup feature. It’s needed.

“Nice review. I’m interested in the product to use mainly as a daily announcement machine—like when you call a movie theater and they tell the list of today’s showings. I’d like to prepare a week’s worth of announcements, and have the announcement change automatically.”
“I’ve written the company, with no answer yet. Do you know if the software can automatically switch the message folk hear when they call? Or do you know how/where that message is stored? If it’s accessible in the Finder I could AppleScript a daily change.”
“Finally, do you know if there is a time limit on the announcement folk hear when they call? I figure I’ll need three minutes or so.”
I’d drop Parliant another note. I’m sure they were busy with Macworld in Boston last week. They’ve responded to my messages just fine. From my view of PhoneValet, it doesn’t seem to have a way to “switch” the voice greetings, however, different greetings can be recorded for different mail boxes.
I’m using it as a daily answering machine.
