Alright, Bingo isn’t exactly Las Vegas, but it’s a fun game that’s easy to play, whether money is involved or not.
Bingo Caller is the perfect Mac utility for anyone who wants to RUN a Bingo game, not just play Bingo. There’s a difference.
The Mac has plenty of games of serious, dubious, and lesser value. Bingo isn’t one of them. There used to be a few Bingo games for Mac users. Now, there’s Bingo Caller.
As the game’s title suggests, it isn’t just a game. It’s the Bingo Caller. The one who runs Bingo. Except now your Mac gets to do the calling and keeping track of all the numbers.
If you don’t know Bingo, this is a good way to learn. If you know Bingo, Bingo Caller is a good way to run a Bingo game whether for fun or profit.
Start up Bingo Caller and you get a Called display with all the standard possible numbers. Options are few and far between. There’s a pull down menu to select Winning Patterns, another display for the Winning Pattern, a large display for the called number, and a slider to control the calling.
Calling? Yes. Bingo Caller calls the game for you by using the Mac’s system voice in System Preferences.
You’re gonna love the simplicity. Click the Start Game button to get started. See? I told you it would be simple. Every few seconds a number will be called by your Mac. Then the called number will be highlighted.
Then it’s play Bingo until someone thinks they won. When a player yells “Bingo” click the Pause button while you verify their results against what was called by your Mac, and the pattern selected.
You’re looking for more? Don’t. It’s Bingo. There’s not much going on to begin with. Bingo Caller just makes it easier and lets your Mac do the work by calling the numbers for you (you control the time between calls with the slider, slow to fast).
When someone wins just click the Clear Game button and everything starts over. You can also use Bingo Caller to print out Bingo sheets. About the only thing Bingo Caller doesn’t let you do is play Bingo against your Mac, or provide other players.
Not bad for free, huh? Bingo Caller does what it says. It’s not pretty, just functional. That’s about what you get in a good game of Bingo anyway, right?
Alright, Bingo isn’t my favorite Mac game. What’s yours? Are you into Mac games? If so, what kind? Or, have you gone the way of Dashboard Widgets for playing games? Me, too.
