I read in the news yesterday that Americans text on their cell phones more often than they call on their cell phones. What about email? Do you send more email or less email?
Like it or don’t, email is still one of the twin killer applications of the internet. What better way to keep in touch with family and friends than with customized email messages which reflect the holiday spirit?
The Stationery Themes In Your Mac’s Mail
I have to admit that I’ve been a text email user for about 15 years and just got started using Mail stationery last year during the holidays.
Everybody on my holiday greeting card list also had email so I saved a bunch of money on stamps and envelopes, created a cute message with photos, and dropped it into a Mail stationery template.
The end result was remarkable. Friends and family members called on the phone to say thank you for the photos and card.
They never did that when I helped subsidize the US Postal Service and turned my tongue into a larger version of a cat’s tongue licking stamps and envelopes.
If you didn’t know it, your Mac has a bunch of built-in stationery templates already. Click New Message in Mail. Then click the Show Stationery button. Then choose one that looks nice.
Snail Mail Or Email Holiday Greetings
Handwritten holiday greeting cards may be a nice touch that email can’t match. But a lovely email greeting card complete with a bunch of photos is a treat.
By far, the best collection of additional Mail stationery comes from Jumsoft, who as it happens, also has a free stationery pack which you can download and install on your Mac.
What do you get? Take a look:
Sweet, huh? If you’ve struggled with your budget this year and considering a mass reduction in the holiday greeting card list, email makes a perfect alternative.
Think of it this way. You’re already on the internet, right? I consider that a fixed expense. You know, like chocolate, diapers, car payment, and rent.
So, that means you have email and the means to contact even more friends and family this year, not less. Don’t let economic woes deprive your loved ones of another photo of you with more wrinkles and your kids with food between their teeth.
Memories like that demand to be shared. Jumsoft’s Mail Stationery numbers in the hundreds, but the Goodies package is totally free and installs in seconds. There’s a bonus, too. The Goodies package also features Keynote backgrounds and themes (assuming you’re an iWork ‘09 owner).
