There was a time when I was a Poker addict. I didn’t lose my shirt or house, but I was a serious player with a problem. I didn’t know when to quit.
Since time is money I’m sure you can figure out the problem. Today I’m still in to Poker. Just think of this as Jeffrey Mincey’s Poker Week at Mac360. What’s my favorite game? Texas Hold ‘em, of course. Favorite Mac Poker game?
Poker Is Serious But Should Be Fun
After a few decades of experience I figured out how Poker should be played. It’s a game. It’s not life. It should be fun.
Once I got that into my system then the seriousness of playing became more manageable.
Today, I’m a recovering Poker addict.
I still play. Not for money. Not with a vengeance. But for the love of the game. My Mac and my iPhone are my locations of choice.
The beauty of playing Poker on the Mac is that the stakes are emotional not financial. Sure, numbers and stakes are involved. But it’s not real. It’s a game.
The Funnest Poker Game Ever
That brings me to my game of choice. Imagine Poker.
It’s classic Texas Hold ‘em Poker. Man against machine. Except the Poker players in the machine are characters from history. Robin Hood. Blackbeard. Merlin the Magician. Abe Lincoln.
Imagine Poker gives you 21 characters from history to play against, and each has a specific personality and Poker playing style. There’s Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Sherlock Holmes (the toughest opponent for me). Dracula plays better at night; is easy to beat in daylight. Little Red Riding Hood isn’t as sexy as Marie Antoinette.
Choose your own dealer and any one of six different rooms. There’s Pot Limit, No Limit, and Play Limit Texas Hold ‘em. Not only can you choose a character from history to represent you at the table, but you can build your own characters, too.
You’ll learn about the historical characters as you play, and assign voices with your Mac’s speech capability.
The Poker Ghost In The Machine
Imagine Poker comes with an assistant called Poker Ghost.
At any time during the course of your game or tournament you can click to get Poker Ghost to give you odds on your particular hand (it’s a good way to know when to hold ‘em, when to fold ‘em).
Imagine Poker isn’t free but isn’t expensive. The first level is accessible to give you an idea of what you’re getting. What you’re getting is a pleasant, light-hearted, accurate and challenging game with a twist.
It’s actually fun to use and play again. Every game you play has a score and Imagine Poker tracks your statistics so you can improve your game. By the way, Mona Lisa is a bitch. I can never figure out whether she’s bluffing or not.
