My wife must think my Mac is a product of Apps R Us. It’s loaded with time saving, effort reducing Mac apps. Hey, it’s what I do. It’s a guy thing. It’s also the way to learn how to improve using a Mac.
My latest find is another multi-trick pony that ponies up some useful file management tricks. One of the most useful tricks is Desktop clean up. Keep it messy. Click once, it’s cleaned up.
Multi-Tool, Multi-Trick, Multi-Fun
Most Mac users have a messy Desktop. Everything gets dumped there. Documents, folders, photos, images, movie clips, snippets, downloads, apps.
A Mac’s virtual Desktop is often a reflection of a real desktop.
It’s loaded with a little of everything and needs to be cleaned. Often.
FileMyFiles is a unique Mac app which does what it’s name implies it can do. File your files. Put away that which isn’t where it belongs. If your desktop sometimes looks like this:
All it takes is a single click in FileMyFiles to make the Desktop look like this instead:
FileMyFiles organizes what’s on your Desktop in a way that fits your organizational style (it’s not just dumping everything into a drawer or box).
Files get stored on the Desktop based on type. Word processor files go in one folder, images go in another, and so on. Click Unfile My Files and everything goes back out to the Desktop.
More Ways To Have Fun With Files
If FileMyFiles only did the Desktop cleaning bit, it would be a useful app. It does more.
The one click thing is nice, but what if you have a desktop Mac (like an iMac or MacPro or Mac mini) and you need to grab your Mac notebook to head out the door?
FileMyFiles will copy all your essential files from the desktop Mac to your Mac notebook with a click.
Then you’re good to go.
Other functions include the option to change file names, delete apps you no longer use, even schedule your Mac to do a little housecleaning. It’ll even create a list of folders you want to organize.
Not bad, huh? The most useful functions in FileMyFiles are the one-click cleanup of the Desktop, and the one-click copying of files from Mac to Mac. Very handy.
