There are times when Safari drives me nuts. It can’t remember where to keep windows. Once I’ve opened a dozen or so apps on my Mac, windows get scattered all over the place, which further inflames my already painful Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
My Mac doesn’t help the situation, either. Some apps come to the front with a click. Other apps just bring a window to the front. Is there a cure?
Windows Gone Wild
It doesn’t take long for windows to breed and fully populate a Mac’s screen, no matter how many pixels you have. What’s needed is a one click controller that brings order to screen chaos.
Enter Stay, an inexpensive Mac app that trains your windows like you’d train a puppy.
It works like you’d think it would work.
First, put your Mac app’s windows where you want them.
Then, tell Stay that’s where you want the windows to stay. After that, no matter how messy things get on your Mac’s screen, a click to Stay brings order back to the chaos.
After that, simply tell Stay to store the windows for the app.
From then on, now matter how you scatter your windows around your Mac’s screen, you’re just a click from bringing Stay’s order to reduce the inflammation in your OCD.
That’s about it. Order from chaos.
Stay works quickly once installed but gives you flexibility on the fly (for those with a double dose of OCD).
For example, you can Store Windows for All Applications open at the time.
But you can also Store Active Window, or Store All Windows for a specific app.
Stay is missing a keyboard shortcut option so you’ll have to rely on a click to the Menubar to Store Windows and Restore Windows. But that’s a small price to pay for such a dignified and controllable way to bring order to the chaos of window management on larger Mac screens.
