Like a moth to the flame, I’m drawn toward Mac apps that live in the Menubar. Yes, it’s already crowded up there, but so is the Dock.
Here’s a way to use your Mac’s Menubar to pay bills. That’s correct. Because you need an easy, quick, painless way to pay your bills. Why not use the Menubar? It’s there. It’s visible. It reminds you. It’s easy. And the app is almost free.
Bill Paying Madness
Here’s the problem with paying bills (whether by hand or by Mac or by automation). There’s too much month left at the end of the money.
With all of today’s modern Mac apps, there’s no excuse to accidentally miss paying a bill except when there’s no more money.
Chronicle mini is a Menubar app that lets you view your bills and make payments with a minimal number of clicks.
I cannot think of an easier way or simpler app to use for this specific purpose than Chronicle mini, which is free. Here comes the gotcha.
Chronicle mini? That means there’s a big brother Chronicle hiding somewhere, right? Exactly. Chronicle itself is a Mac bill paying app. The mini version simply gives you access to Chronicle’s bill listings from the Menubar.
Chronicle is not your typical Mac money management app. It tracks your bills, what you paid, where it went, when bills are due.
Because you can schedule bills to be paid in Chronicle, and because Chronicle warns you when bills are due, the only reason to miss a payment is because there’s still month left over at the end of your money.
It’s also handy to use when setting specific financial goals with a handy dosage of charts and graphs (it’s always nice to know where the money went).
Chronicle is good for remembering details of your payment history, and the stats display the spending trends in glorious color. Pay online? Sure. That’s an option, too. Chronicle mini just makes access to Chronicle much easier, both to view your bills, and to make online payments.
