There are only two kinds of fish in the world. The kind you eat. And the kind you keep as pets. If you have fish you keep but not keep to eat but use as pets, then your Mac can help you with all the dirty work, fishy details, expenses, and aquarium management. When it comes to managing a pristine aquarium, yes, Virginia, there’s an app for that. Mac users who love fish will love an app that loves fish, too.
We have spreadsheets and databases so why not an app that helps fish lovers everywhere have an aquarium our fish pets deserve?
How Much Is That Fish In The Window?
We have fish. Too many fish. Three tanks. Rather than neglect my babies from time to time, I use a management system.
Maquarium is the Mac app that manages your aquarium.
The app tracks those little details that start falling out of your head and onto the floor once you get past three fish in a tank.
It’s not just expenses. It’s inventory. Schedules. Chemicals. And what you keep in each tank. Including the proper water balance.
How do you know the chemical you bought at Walmart is really healthy for your fish? Maquarium’s database can tell you.
Maquarium features a self explanatory Toolbar. Click to add a New Tank or Fish or Plant. Click to Calculate your current tank’s water (after you set up the details in the calculator).
Add aquariums in the left sidebar. Expenses can be calculated and total costs maintained (this is a scary feature– your Mac is telling you how much you have invested in each fish, tank and accessories– and click on either image above for a larger, pop up, more detailed view).
Schedule cleanings and feedings using the built-in scheduler.
If you’re into real plants, those can be tracked in detail, including important items such as pH balance, life span, how they breed and much more.
A notification window pops up to tell you when a scheduled activity is overdue. The built-in database knows pretty much every fish you can find, including their required water conditions.
My husband says Maquarium is the third best way to take care of fish. It comes after baked and fried. Can’t handle real fish? There are 4 Ways To Add A Few Cute Fish To Your Mac Life the digital way. Without funerals.
