Second, we have many Mac apps to track and manage our tasks, and the latest trend is to have those tasks and projects sync with our iPhones. Fight overload fire with fire from a slick Mac and iPhone app combo.
Todo’s, Tasks, And Projects, Oh My!
For many of us, managing to-do lists, tasks, and projects is a painful exercise in frustration. Sure, we can keep Stickies and to-do list items on our Macs. But our Macs don’t follow us everywhere we go.
For iPhone users, there are dozens of to-do list apps that go everywhere.
Most of those apps are simple and don’t sync tasks and projects back to our Macs.
What we need is a combination of apps—one for Mac, one for iPhone, which manage tasks and projects the new age way.
Firetask is a new breed of app aimed at busy users who demand maximum flexibility without complexity. It uses the time-honored Getting Things Done method (GTD) to manage your to-do list. And, it syncs seamlessly with an iPhone version so your list is always mobile.
At the simplest level, what we need to remember about to-do list items is that they’re nothing more than specific tasks—either standalone, or as a task within a project. So, projects are made up of a series of tasks.
Firetask manages tasks using the GTD method. It’s simple. Organize tasks as simple or complex as you want. Set a Due By date and time and give each a Priority.
Specific tasks can be assigned to the In-Tray, assigned to a Project, or simply shelved to be handled Someday.
Completed tasks can be checked off just like a simple to-do list. The toolbar provides only the basics—New Project, New Category, Information, and a Quick Entry.
GTD’s strength comes in assigning tasks to categories, then working on the items in each category at the appropriate time.
Firetask comes with a number of built in Categories including Calls, Email, Computer, Office, Errand, Issues, and many others. You can create categories for your needs.
Click the check mark button beside each task to assign it to a category. As you complete a task from a category, click the item as done, and move on to the next task.
The power of Firetask lies in simplicity and focus.
Set up tasks, assign them to categories, and collect tasks for inclusion into your projects.
