Most of us are mere weather watchers. We check the forecast for the day, or a few days ahead. And, we may check the current weather conditions, but that’s about it. What we cannot do is anything about the weather. What we can do is gain a better insight to weather from historical data and multiple sources.
Fortunately, there’s an app for that, and it’s the best Mac weather app you can have.
Best Mac Weather App On Earth
Since we really can’t do much about the weather, let’s focus on monitoring the weather around us. That’s what Seasonality does. It monitors weather like no other Mac app (also available in the Mac App Store).
Yes, the Mac has plenty of weather apps. We have Dashboard Widget weather apps. We have Menubar weather apps.
What we don’t have is the current conditions detail, or historical detail that comes in Seasonality.
The latest version of this popular weather app comes with a custom-drawn surface analysis plotted on the radar and satellite map.
This is cooler than it sounds. Seasonality displays a surface analysis which shows current fronts and centers of high and low pressure. It’s also natively drawn to any map zoom level.
Seasonality features more than a little eye candy. The control panel displays weather conditions for different cities in the left hand Sidebar.
Current conditions are displayed in substantial detail, and there’s the ubiquitous forecast for the next so many days.
The claim to fame in Seasonality is the amount of data collected for each city, and displayed historically.
Visual chewing gum doesn’t end there, though. You’ll also get superb weather radar and satellite maps for each city or location on your list.
New is the precipitation probability graph. Seasonality doesn’t just download weather from some service, either.
Weather data is downloaded from multiple sources to Seasonality servers, then compiled, sliced, diced, and julienned just for Seasonality on your Mac.
Initially, Seasonality downloads four days of historical data, but keeps adding data so over time you get highly details historical weather analysis capability.
Statistically, weather information is available for over 30,000 locations from over 200 countries. As the control panel graphic above indicates, Seasonality is highly visual. There are radar and satellite maps for many (but not all) locations. Over time, Seasonality gives you an historical timeline of weather data.
If weather detail is important to you, and you’re not satisfied with the limited weather information from Dashboard Widgets or Menubar weather apps, give Seasonality a look. Add half a dozen cities that are important for you and go crazy with weather fever.
