Or, instead of waiting around for Apple to do the right thing, you could download a free and clever list management app for Mac, iPhone, and iPad and use features that Apple hasn’t built-in yet because the company is simply too busy counting their enormous quarterly profits.
Lists, Cloud, Sync, Oh My!
Yes, you’re on a budget. But you’ve managed to secure a Mac because you recognize that quality is often the best value. If you’re an iPhone or iPad user, then you’ll appreciate Wunderlist.
Think of what would happen if Stickies, TextEdit, Reminders, and Notes were mashed together. That’s Wunderlist.
First, it’s a list-making app. Use it to make lists. Lists? Yes, as in reminders, notes, tasks.
Then, save and sync your Wunderlist lists to iCloud for free. And, if you’re so blessed with other Apple devices, rejoice in the iPhone and iPad versions of Wunderlist which also grab the same lists from iCloud.
Everything syncs nicely together for one low price. Free. Wunderlist comes with more features than Notes or Reminders.
Wunderlist can share lists with friends and even has a feature to collaborate with others (get everyone on Wunderlist– there’s even an Android OS version, and a Windows PC version, plus a web-based app).
Unlike Reminders, Wunderlist lists can have notes which adds more details to a task.
Use drag and drop to rearrange the lists in Wunderlist to set priorities. Tasks can be assigned deadlines.
And, if you’re into the GTD method, Wunderlist has a Focus view, and an option to star and prioritize tasks.
Personalizing your Mac might be limited to Desktop background images, but Wunderlist gives you a dozen high resolution backgrounds to differentiate the app from others. On the downside, there’s no repeating tasks, and items have to sorted manually. Bummer. But it’s free.
