If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what is a three minute YouTube video worth? In other words, words don’t accurately describe how crazy cool CrazyTalk7 really is.
Imagine a photo of your dog converted to animation. With a voice. Or, photos of your family or friends, animated with their own voices in a clever facial animation tool that has to be seen to be appreciated. That’s CrazyTalk7, the crazy app that is more fun to play around with than four members of the Swedish Bikini Beach Volleyball team.
Facial Animation Made Easy
We all know that animation is not easy. People go to school for years and used expensive, complicated, and highly advanced software to create animation.
How is it that CrazyTalk7 can create attractive, dynamic animation too which adds a voice, complete with facial movements?
I don’t know how they do it. It’s digital magic. And it’s a whole lot of fun to use.
CrazyTalk Animator has been around a few years, but runs on Windows PCs. CrazyTalk7 for Mac brings many of the same animation functions to Mac users, and at a lower price.
CrazyTalk7 takes an image or photo, prepares it for animation, adds lip-sync to a voice, sprinkles in a little head movement and auto motion, and the end result is facial animation– moving images that talk.
And, of course, the picture that is worth a thousand words.
Is that cool, or what?
Pull a photo out of iPhoto, align the facial wire frame to head, eyes, nose, mouth, and the static image comes to live with animation.
Anything with a typical face can be animated, including photos of pets, stuffed animals, your children (in their static moments).
Eyes and teeth get special treatment from individual controls so movements are more lifelike.
Even better, CrazyTalk7 can record your voice and apply it to the animation. The result? Your animated image actually speaks, and the face moves accordingly (mouth open while talking).
Using Apple’s built-in text-to-speech technology, you can type in what you want your animated face to speak, and select one of OS X’s many voices for the part. There’s even special audio effects and you can create your own animation personalities.
This is just an amazing app at a very reasonable price. And therein lies the only problem (other than wasting an evening simply creating a talking penguin for my youngest daughter).
There’s no trial version for the Mac. It’s a Mac App Store app. That’s the only place you can buy CrazyTalk7. If you don’t mind living a little dangerously, all I can guarantee is that you’ll have fun trying to have fun.
