You know the unofficial mantra of being a parent, right? Have children, will take photos until blue in the face, or until neighbors close their blinds in fear of seeing yet another photo album of little girls making faces or attacking the dog. Again.
I’m always on the lookout for free apps (it’s that official Value Vixen™ that spurs me on) and I found another one. A good one.
Vintage Photos With A Click
Far be it from me to be the one to issue a warning about iPhone and iPad apps, but here’s one. No, it’s not the app Vintique. It’s great but I have only two concerns.
What I don’t understand about Vintique is this. Why is it free? Is there a catch? Yes.
Vintique is one of many apps for iPhone and iPad that add textures, frames, filters, and effects to photos.
The Vintique name implies a bunch of vintage photo filters. If you thought that, you’d be correct.
What you get are 32 vintage filters to go along with standard photo enhancement effects (brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, exposure, gamma, hue, and more).
Pull in a photo from your iPhone or iPad and instantly apply one of the dozens of filters.
- old times, warm day, delight, 5 p.m., watercolors
- pinky day, drowsy, vintage, yesterday, the day, heaven
- happy time, beamed, someday, sweet dream, phantasm
- dim past, tenebrific, gloomy, reminiscent, remember
- mind map, coarse, blue ink, memories, dark mood
- canvas, letters, chilly, chic, pure, fading
See? Nice, right?
Check out a vintage filter and it’s applied automatically to the photo. Choose from 19 different vignettes and over two dozen textures.
Vintique also shares and photos can be uploaded to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and sent via Email.
Not bad for free, right? Here’s the problem.
The photos are only in 612×612 pixel resolution. Your photo’s full resolution will cost money with an in app purchase from the App Store. Fortunately, the Plus Pack is only 99-cents, which is still dirt cheap.
That seems like a convoluted way to make 99-cents, but what do I know about business and product marketing. I just like what I like and Vintique is pretty good, even with the Plus Pack.
