I’m a mother, a pet owner, a loving wife, a Mac-using, iPhone-toting suburbanite who knows how to put the right touch on the end a long, hard day. A few minutes in the wine cellar. Actually, we don’t have a wine cellar. If we did, I’d spend more time there.
As it is, I have to use my iPhone instead.
iPhone Meets Wine Bottle
You gotta love modern technology. Grab your iPhone, download the Delectable Wine app (it’s free). Head to the local alcoholic beverage store, and start taking pictures.
Say what, Alex? Take pictures? Yes. Your iPhone has a camera, right? March into the nearest purveyor of finer grapes, and take a picture of bottle you can afford.
Delectable Wine has a database of wine bottles and photo recognition means your phone can tell you the vintage, the winemaker, and the wine name. All from a photo of the bottle.
The app is also a social community. Think of it as Yelp! for wine aficionados. The Delectable Wine community is made up of industry professionals, winemakers, tastemakers, sommeliers, and folks like me who just love to jug a little of the vine.
Use Delectable Wine to create your own wine journal with a log of wines you enjoy or want to try.
Add your own rating and comments to any wine in your collection. And, yes, you can buy wines. Delectable Wine can have choice selections delivered right to your door.
Share your perspective or tastes with other wine lovers right inside the app. To have Delectable Wine give you all the details on a wine, simply snap a photo and add to your collection.
The app does facial recognition on the bottle and label (can you imagine the collection of wine bottles the app’s developers must have? Whoa, the parties!).
iTunes App Store users love the convenience and the information available on each bottle and give Delectable Wine high ratings. And it’s oh so convenient. It’s like having a walking, talking wine encyclopedia in your pocket.
