Or, worse, the list of what you need at the grocery store is on seven different Post-it Notes, some of which may have been eaten by a child or pet. Is there a better way to shop? Yes. All you need is the right app and an iPhone.
Share The Grocery Store List
AnyList is one of a new breed of iOS apps that combine old fashioned utility with social interaction. It’s where you make a list of what you need from the grocery store.
So, it looks like a typical iPhone shopping list app. But we live in a social and sharing world today.
That means AnyList shares the grocery store list with others so everyone can have a hand in making sure the shelves and fridge stay stocked, and the local market stays in business.
Add an item to AnyList, and the item appears on AnyList on your spouse or roommate’s iPhone. Check off a list while you’re shopping, and the items get checked off other iPhones.
AnyList also automatically categorizes items you put on the list. And, you can create as many lists as you need.
AnyList thinks ahead and lists typical items as you type the first few letters.
Wait. There’s more.
Any list has recipes so you can see which ingredients you need while you’re making your list or while you’re shopping.
Word completions are fast and intuitive, and AnyList switches quickly between Shopping List and Recipes.
Even better, despite the attractive low price tag, there are no annoying pop up ads.
As shopping list apps go, AnyList is good but needs a few additional functions.
I’d love to see a built-in calculator. It’s not difficult to switch between apps on an iPhone, but having the calculator a tap away is plus.
And, of course, there’s the holy grail of shopping list apps. Price comparisons. There are plenty of iOS apps which scan barcodes and compare prices, but having it built-in to a list app would be another plus.
