It’s my growing addiction to Mac and iPhone photo enhancement apps, a collection which is so large it needs a special folder to launch apps from the Dock. Here’s an example of another one which makes photo enhancements fun (hence, the addiction).
Photo Effects, Splashed
It seems as if every week a new photo enhancement app shows up on the Mac App Store, begging me to click it to download and complete my collection. Complete? Only until the next app shows up.
The latest is called My Splash Effects. A couple of bucks gets you dozens of visual effects in a simple to use interface.
All the effects are laid out in seven different categories. Black and White, Old Picture, Color, Blur, Hue, Blend, and Transition.
Apply any of the effects to a photo with a single click from the effects preview board.
All the basic parameters are adjustable, too, including contrast, brightness, saturation– all from simple slider bars.
How easy is this?
Remove color from a photo and then drop it back in with a splash.
My Splash Effects features an advanced mask editing system which makes it easy to apply colors to specific portions of a photo.
The slider controls make adjustments a simple process.
Not bad, right?
My Splash Effects comes with multiple editing brushes, and you can preview the final effect of each brush style.
That includes opacity, radius, and hardness, all of which are easily adjusted. Photos can be enlarged or reduced in size as you edit.
Of course, there’s standard undo, redo, and clear as you edit, and images can be exports as JPG, PNG, or TIFF files.
The app’s focus is on simplicity, though the slider controls give you plenty of options to adjust each effect. You might want more bells and whistles, but considering the nominal price tag and the excellent results, My Splash Effects is yet another good value among the many photo enhancement apps.
