It seems like a generation ago, but back in the day product reviews were difficult to find, and that made Consumer Reports the magazine to have before you bought a product. Sadly, those days are gone, and Consumer Reports today is but a pale imitation of a past life.
Instead, there’s the internet and the world wide web and more product reviews than you can find with a stick and a flashlight. And, yes, there’s Consumr Reviews, the iPhone app.
Powr To The People
Today’s savvy iPhone user knows the value of online reviews. Yelp is successful for a reason, right? Every user review might not be an accurate representation of a product, service, restaurant, or store, but the trends can be unmistakable.
That’s where Consumr Reviews, the app, takes up where Consumer Reports left off. iPhone users have bar code scanners which find and compare prices, right?
What about reviews and ratings for products? That’s what Consumr Reviews does. It’s a barcode scanner, too, and it tracks down reviews for whatever product you scan.
That includes beauty products, baby products, toys, even groceries, and more. Just scan the item while you’re in the store and see what others have said about the same thing.
Or, even better, add your own review. It’s all easy to setup and use.
It doesn’t take much to use Consumr Reviews, either. Walk into a store, grab a product you might like to know more about, and scan the barcode with your iPhone.
If other Consumr Reviews reviews have reviewed what you just scanned, you’ll get the details right on the iPhone’s screen.
Products are reviewed, rated, and ranked by other users, but you can create and share your own product reviews Yelp-style.
Consumr Reviews also features product recall alerts, tags to make it easier to search for scanned items, and an option for a few perks ranging from samples to events for becoming a top reviewer.
What’s the catch? Consumr Reviews is free, but for now it’s a U.S. only app.
