As it turns out, all you need is 99-cents and the iPhone app that gives you all the tools you need to create and drop text and captions onto a photo before sharing it online.
What Price Love?
Most of the photos we share online are shared as is, especially those photos taken by an iPhone. We snap a few photos, open up the Photos app, find one we like, select it and share it online.
The next tier of iPhone photographer has a few apps which apply filters and effects to those photos before sharing the customizations online.
What’s missing is the option to drop in a caption, add text over a section of the photo, and then share it.
That’s what the app Over does. Over, as in drop text over the photo. Is that a feature you need? The answer is a resounding sometimes.
And, yes, a picture is worth at least a few hundred words. Here’s a sample of Over in action.
Over gives you a quick way to add a caption or drop text onto an image using custom fonts. That means jokes, captions, quotes, poems, memes, or anything that’s adding words to a photo.
The fonts that come with Over are designed for small photos to be shared online. Photos can also be resized, re-aligned, and positioned with your text.
Also included are tools for character spacing and line height. Add a tint of color for the text to standout over a photo. Additional fonts are available online.
Here’s the real advantage to using Over. It shares. Grab a photo from the Photos camera roll, drop in text to suit the photo, then share it online. Over does Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. But not Flickr. Photos with text are just too tacky for Flickr.
