Either way it’s hard to find what you want when you want it. What Mac users want and need is a one click way to clean the clutter, Desktop and screen, and even clean the Mac’s memory. Yes, there’s an app for that and it’s free.
Hide, Quit, Purge!
It is without reservation that I recommend the free UnCluster, a Mac utility with value beyond the sum of the parts. Oh, guess what? UnCluster is developed by a teenager.
Yep, that’s the story. A Mac loving teenager created a utility that does what Apple doesn’t bother to do. Unclutter the clutter.
Uncluster performs a number of handy tasks, each with a simple click. First up, it purges the Mac’s memory. Lots of apps do this, but in UnCluster it’s built in.
After that, there are toggle buttons. Click Hide Apps to hide apps on the Mac’s screen. Likewise, UnHide Apps is the button that brings them back to view again.
Other buttons includes Hide Me, Quit All Apps, Quit Me, and the ever popular Goodies.
There’s nothing difficult to figure out in UnCluster.
UnCluster can hide all the Desktop icons which makes it look as if you’re well organized (or, just to hide sensitive files from prying eyes).
It also organizes files and folders on the Desktop based upon the file date. There are all simple functions that, frankly, should be included in OS X in the first place.
Not bad for free, right? If a Mac loving teenager can find holes that Apple doesn’t fill, then there’s still hope for the future of mankind.
